Bob (Sluggo) Totterer A native St. Louisan, Bob Totterer has been performing in the metropolitan area for four decades. He began in the mid 1960's as a self-taught guitarist, cutting his musical teeth on the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and others in the Pop/Rock field. In the 1970's, a number of rock 'n roll bands and the acoustic duo, "Faren Square", gave way to the more sophisticated sound of his three piece group, "Nightcap". That band featured an easy listening/light jazz genre with bassist Glenn Vatterott and drummer Steve Wilkinson. In 1988, he founded the Contemporary Christian group, "Aletheia". This five-piece ensemble included Bob on lead guitar and vocals, bassist Dave Petcu, drummer Don Long, and keyboardists Bob King and Kim "Crazy Legs" Burgess. For ten years, Aletheia brought their concept-driven presentations, such as their multimedia Christmas show, The Promise, to audiences throughout the St. Louis area and beyond. During this period, Bob honed his skills for composition and arrangement, writing over 100 vocal and instrumental selections for the band. Mr. Totterer also engineered and produced several independent CD's for Aletheia - It's the Word, The Promise, The Sign and The Lion of Judah. Several varied endeavors followed the dissolution of Aletheia, such as JazzLimo, an internet broadcast spotlighting independent jazz, wherein Bob was the host and producer. He and collaborator Steve Wilkinson also launched The St. Louis Jazz Project, which enlisted the talents of such local artists as Ptah Williams and Randy Holmes. About the same time, the 60's/70's party band, "Sluggo", was born. Along with drummer Don Long and keyboardist/bassist Glenn Vatterott, Bob found a comfortable niche in his old rock 'n roll roots. Now as the lead guitarist backing Kenny Sutter, he has shifted gears yet again to embrace the modern country/southern rock idiom. Concerning his current musical experiences, Bob says, "I have a great time and my audience has a great time. Gee – isn’t that what it’s all about?” Mr. Totterer resides in Bridgeton, Missouri with his wife, Peggy. **************************************************************************
